The Glass Manufacture Platform La Trinidad offers us the opportunity of meeting the rich and varied industrial heritage nowadays still conserved at this side of the city. Since 19th century and well into the 20th century, Miraflores alley turned into a powerful industrial focus of the Sevillian capital, with industries working on the manufacture of silk, glass, car components, clothes or even olives. At the moment there are many buildings marking this part of the city, some of them restructured in houses, some others still waiting for a use that turns them alive again into the life they had. All of them are witnesses of an industrial past little known by the Sevillians.

Miraflores path is as ancient as the same city, and recently excavations bear witness to this. Here, near Carretera Carmona, have appeared remains of Roman settlements in some burials near the Roman dungeons of the Salesian order. It’s rumoured that Santa Justa and Santa Rufina are buried in these dungeons. Not in vain was this one of the many paths converging in the city, and that, anyhow, made possible its foundation and development.

Its name comes from the Miraflores country house, that has someting to do with Marquez de Miraflores. Related to the Guzmanes and the Afan de Rivera, his shield shows up in the entrance of San Isidoro del Campo in Santiponce and, besides, in the Dignitaries Chapel in Santa Maria de las Cuevas, in Cartuja de Sevilla.

SUSPENDIDA POR CAUSAS METEOROLÓGICAS

La Plataforma Fábrica de Vidrios La Trinidad nos ofrece la oportunidad de conocer el rico y variado patrimonio industrial que a día de hoy aún se conserva en esta zona de la ciudad. Desde el siglo XIX y hasta bien entrado el siglo XX, la avenida de Miraflores se convirtió en un potente foco industrial de la capital hispalense con industrias dedicadas a la manufactura de sedas, vidrios, componentes para automóviles, tejidos o aceitunas. En la actualidad son varios los edificios que jalonan esta zona de la ciudad, algunos reconvertidos en viviendas y otros aún pendientes de un uso que les devuelva la vida que en su día tuvieron, todos ellos testigos de un pasado industrial poco conocido por los sevillanos.

El camino de Miraflores es tan antiguo como la misma Sevilla y así lo atestiguan las excavaciones realizadas recientemente, donde han aparecido restos de asentamientos de época romana, muy cerca, en Carretera Carmona, en unos enterramientos cercanos a las mazmorras romanas de los Salesianos, se rumorea estaban enterradas Santa Justa y Rufina. No en vano era uno de los muchos caminos que convergían a la ciudad y que, al fin y al cabo, hicieron posible que ésta naciera y se desarrollara.

Su nombre proviene del Cortijo “Miraflores” que algo tiene que ver con el Márquez de Miraflores, emparentado con los Guzmanes y los Afán de Rivera, su escudo de Miraflores luce en la entrada de San Isidoro del Campo en Santiponce y además en la capilla de Notables en Santa Maria de las Cuevas, en la Cartuja de Sevilla.
